Cleaning will never be my favorite pastime, and to make the matter worst is the cleaning products themselves. Commercially available cleaning products contain some chemicals that are harmful to us and to the environment. Some cleaning product companies try to disguise the harmful chemicals by adding some natural cleaning ingredients or by using natural scent on their products.  We can avoid these commercially available cleaning products by making our own safe cleaning products.   Lemon, baking soda and vinegar are all natural cleaning agents. It does not contain harmful chemicals that can affect our health and environment.

Here are some natural cleaning solutions you can use in your home…

Lemon

Lemons contain acid, it can be use as an antiseptic and as an antibacterial cleaner, it can also be used as a natural bleaching material. Lemon can be used to dissolve soap scum and hard water deposits. Brass and copper can be clean and shine by lemon juices. Lemon also can be used as deodorizer.

Baking Soda

Baking soda is an abrasive cleanser, it is very good at dissolving dirt, mildew, grease, fatty and oil deposit; it is also a natural deodorizer.  Make a  paste using baking soda, it is good in removing dirt and grime.   A mixture of 4 tablespoon of baking soda dissolve to a quart of water can be use as all around spray cleanser.  Baking soda can also be used as fabric softener and also eliminates clothes odor.  Baking soda also can  be used as a metal and plastic polish.

Vinegar

Vinegar is a natural disinfectant, deodorizer and great all around cleaner on almost anything except marble.  After it dries, its strong smell will also disappear. For cleaning stoves, appliances and counter top, stone and bricks, mix equal part of vinegar and water and apply. Vinegar can be also use as fabric softener, just add 1/2 cups of vinegar to the rinse cycle and presto, you already have an environmentally friendly fabric softener.  It can also be use as a great window cleaner.  To make the window cleaner add a couple of tablespoons to a bottle of water in a spray bottle.

Mixture

A combination of lemon or vinegar and baking soda is a great cleaning paste. A lemon cut in a half, sprinkled with baking soda is a great abrasive cleaner.

A combination of baking soda and borax is a great dishwashing agent.

A combination of olive oil and lemon juice can be use as hardwood furniture polishers.

As you can see there are many ways to make your own safe cleaning products.
